KOTH - Season 2
The gripping sequel of the hit drama ANZINS - King of the Hill, has ended. At the washup at the end of KOTH Season II, the 5th Ðimension («5л) holds the crown! They couldn't have timed their second claim of the top spot any better. However, congratulations are also due to Zoom Zoom Aeroplane (zza.) who managed hold the crown six times throughout the season. 2-Commando (C²) were close behind with five, and latecomers Bad Wolf (BW.) were top of the pack four times. Stalwarts and all round nice guys, Ravenous (rV.) were unable to claim the crown - however we hope they had some fun.
KOTH - Season 1
The groundbreaking first season of the hit drama ANZINS - King of the Hill has ended. Congratulations to Apocalyptic Demise (aD.) who managed to defend the top spot for 8 weeks running! Well played to all the other teams, and a big thank you to all the players who got involved to help kick the local competitive Insurgency scene into a new gear. Also, we cannot forget to thank Cabal and Defunkt without who's time and money the whole thing would not be possible.
Electronic Sports League
ESL Season 2 was definitely an experiance for the ANZINS members that participated. After being promoted from the second division into the first we always knew it was going to be hard but a 3rd place finish is just awesome. Well done to all the ANZINS guys that took part during the season.

SAVE INSURGENCY! Former project lead Jeremy has started an online petition requesting (nay demanding) he & his own developers be allowed back on the team and a parallel thread has been started on the insmod forums. Whatever your own feelings about Insurgency now I would urge you all to add your name to both, even if you don't want to save it for yourself it should (and can) be saved for others.

Write-up:
Clan Germany, probably with most claim to being the best clan in the world at Insurgency, veterans of countless tough scrims and many-time winners of ESL. And by the looks of things they brought an A team. This was the match ANZINS wanted to prove themselves not simply very good, but potentially the best in the world.
The early time meant everyone was feeling somewhat tired and not as confident as we could have been and tensions were running high as the first round kicked off. Despite losing most of our team on C we managed to hold the point and fight them back, and began pushing Bravo from several flanks. At this point it became clear that while Clan Germany was good - very good - we could certainly hold our own. The rest of the round revolved around B with us capping it but losing it several times. Despite intense efforts to retake B by Clan Germany we managed to block it as the timer ran out.
In the second round with renewed confidence we quickly secured C without much resistance. Clan Germany appeared to be trying to absorb our attacks before moving forward, which they successfully did several times, but we fought off their counter-attacks and managed a solid attack on B, taking it convincingly and quickly pressing our advantage to A. Having capped A we were in a very good position for the next two rounds.
Things rapidly fell apart in the third round. Pin-point accurate grenades on C destroyed most of our team and the rest soon followed. Clan Germany kept constant attacks on B going while solidly covering the road, and we found ourselves unable to get kills when it counted. Despite this we managed to keep up a defense of B until one member of Clan Germany shot us from behind as we spawned at B, resulting in a near-instant team down. We could not get to A before they started capping it and ended up losing the round.
The last round was intense. Our clear lead had disappeared and we resolved to attack C more carefully. However the laser-accurate grenades still claimed several of us but our added caution meant they could not push as hard as the previous round. As revenge for their exit camping the round before one of us managed to get to their D spawn and wreaked some vengeance. Sadly we did not follow though and our lackluster C defence meant we lost it. Much of the round was spent in desperate attempts to get C back but without result, however this insistence on our part managed to hold them at bay. Eventually they managed to push us back and we had to re-take Bravo, which we did with great difficulty. In the last three or four minutes we realised we needed to hold B to win and things turned ugly, with Marines rushing and getting in Bravo several times, but our defense just managed to cling on and the game ended with us blocking the point.
Victory! At no point during the match did we have it easy and Clan Germany showed their talent by costing us dearly at every turn. We lost most or all of our team many times and it was common to have only one or two people alive.
With the win we convincingly proved that ANZINS has exceptional talent. Our community can now with some legitimacy claim to be the best Insurgency team in the world. GG all, and well played!

ANZINS started as Marines for the first half of this grudge match against a newly formed team from the USA. The first round saw ANZINS capture Charlie pretty comfortably, but then they had to work hard against dug in defence on Bravo. Bravo changed hands a few times, but ANZINS ended up capturing Alpha for the cap-out and an early advantage.
The second round was much the same, except that the ANZINS attack from Charlie to Bravo was halted and V² managed to reverse the momentum. The Insurgent team held Charlie briefly, before the resistance fell and ANZINS captured Bravo for a 9-1 half time score line.
After the change of ends, ANZINS was on the attack early, capturing Charlie after a drawn out initial tussle. Individual efforts by a couple of players in separate instances held Charlie for the home team. ANZINS managed to get a foothold in Pharmacy and exert pressure on Delta. A near solo cap by a Marine on Charlie roof against the run of play almost derailed the Insurgent team, but in the end the round finished with Delta 98% captured by ANZINS. At this time V² decided they didn't have the stomach for a 4th round and walked off the field.
All in all, it was a tough and enjoyable match and certainly a greater challenge than those posed by other teams in recent times. Good game to V² from the ANZINS team, hope to see you again.
[ANZINS] Grumpdogg, out.

KOTH - SEASON II

The gripping sequel of the hit drama ANZINS - King of the Hill, has ended. At the washup at the end of KOTH Season II, the 5th Ðimension («5л) holds the crown! They couldn't have timed their second claim of the top spot any better.
However, congratulations is also due to Zoom Zoom Aeroplane (zza.) who managed hold the crown six times throughout the season. 2-Commando (C²) were close behind with five, and late comers Bad Wolf (BW.) were top of the pack four times. Stalwarts and all round nice guys, Ravenous (rV.) were unable to claim the crown - however we hope they had some fun.
Thank you to all those teams, and also to Vigilant Civilian Militia ([VCM]), for your support of the KOTH ladder and your keenness to bring a competitive element to Aus/NZ insurgency.
Most importantly we cannot forget to thank Cabal and Defunkt without who's time and money the whole thing would not be possible, so a big thank you guys - on behalf of KOTH.
KOTH will now take an indefinite break. Originally we were planning to return in mid-January, however a recent decline in the prospects of Insurgency mod makes that seem unlikely. If there continues to be a viable community at that time, then KOTH may resume. If not, then I wish all the clans the best of luck in their chosen endevours. I'm sure the ANZINS community will continue into the future, and I'm keen to see where we end up.
